Direction

You make enough stuff over the years, and you’re likely to pick up a camera and try it out for yourself. I’ve done so often out of a need, where time is short, budget is shorter, and we need the content, and I’m too dumb to know better. Below is a selection of a few things I’ve directed.

Porsche - Anticipation

This started out as scripted idea…then it poured with rain. So I pivoted on the fly to simply showing everyone waiting, anticipating, to come out and play. Even though most of the day was a washout, the last three hours looked promising, so we went for it.

Porsche - Vegas

We were there for a Cayman Club event, a big event, but in the middle of the night we begged for permission to shut down the Vegas strip and create something on the fly. The Cayman personality is to be a bit cheeky, and even though the Cayman owners seemed anything but, we thought maybe we’d let our Vegas freak flag fly.

Lincoln - A Portrait of Summer

During covid, budgets were down, shooting was difficult, so I was given the opportunity to direct the summer spot for Lincoln, the catch? It’s a shoestring budget compared to the typical Lincoln summer event shoots. So we got crafty and found a way.

Chevy - Blackbook

We were shooting a media partnership with Blackbook magazine, but we also thought we could make something more of the content. Shot in and around Vegas with some very un-Chevy-like talent, we pushed it into somewhat of a script where the talent steals the car. Side note, neither of the talent had a driver’s license, so all the stunt driving was also myself.

Lincoln - Movember

We thought Lincoln had the unique opportunity to create its own spin on the Movember mustache celebration…

Rennsport - Glass & Steel

A reminder that Porsche fans are passionate about the brand, and that they’re what makes it, not the glass and steel. And at Rennsport Reunion, the camaraderie is incredible.

Created for basically nothing. The early days of running around an event with a 5D and a GoPro.

Van Ale’N - David Lee Frothy

A friend and I made a beer…that’s right based on the band Van Halen. Pasadena hops, 5.150% alcohol, and ready to get David Lee Frothy. The reality is we made it, drank most of it, then shot a series of fun little spots in my garage. Problem is, now everybody literally wants some.

The Orwells - Music Video

Directed for the Chicago band where we had them play the security for a corrupt politician where things go awry for the cult of personality.
